Specializing in modern Japanese, TenTen taking the dining experience in downtown Austin to a whole other level. The menu – incorporating only the best ingredients - focuses on sushi and robata, Japanese-style grilling similar to barbecuing that gives meats and vegetables a nice smoky flavor. TenTen is about modern Japanese, so the dishes are bolder than in traditional Japanese cuisine. The focus on excellent ingredients extends to the bar as well, which features a full sake selection with different varietals; a full bar with cocktails inspired by Japanese flavors, such as yuzu and shiso; and curated wines and beers. Housed on the first floor of the refurbished Miller Blueprint building, TenTen is high-energy urban in a relaxed, natural setting grounded in stained concrete floors and fixtures made of stone and wood. Las Vegas-based designer Lisa Escobar—who has managed numerous residential and commercial projects and was a finalist for HGTV’s Fresh Faces of Design in 2015—opens the space with a robust bar and lounge area with beautiful lighting, high-seated furniture, and space for people to mix and mingle while grabbing a drink and tasty bite. Cozy booths and a gorgeous lighting system by Austin-based Ketra create an intimate dining room with just the right touch of effervescence emanating through the kitchen’s glass window. The feel is welcoming, vibrant, and fresh. Opens Summer 2019
